Jenny Nicholls reviews Mana Whakatipu for the Waiheke Weekender:
‘Tā Mark’s book, which you might think would be filled with serious stuff about structural racism, Māori leadership, business and climate change, does contain all of those things — but it’s also filled to the brim with lively, intimate, funny, sweary and honest anecdotes, from digging graves to ticking off newspaper editors. A fantastic portrait of the brilliant leader and talented businessman who presided over 18 years of explosive change and economic growth for the vast Ngāi Tahu iwi. When Tā Mark stepped down in 2016, it owned assets worth more than $1.5 billion. Incisive, important, funny, no BS — in other words, wonderful.’
