He pātai auau Frequently asked questions

Yes, under the MasseyTexts imprint. We are especially interested in textbooks designed to be used in degree papers within the university itself.

What’s different about Massey University Press?
• We don’t believe in ‘camera ready’ copy. It’s too error-prone. Massey University Press textbooks are fully edited and proofread (twice).
• Our textbooks have a fresh contemporary design.
• Our skilled editorial and production team is readily available and will take the burden off you.
• We can help you create a book that’s tailor made for your course.
• We can put these books in the market for at least one third of the cost of international textbooks.
• The financial return from course IP developed at Massey stays with the university.

Here’s what the authors of the books above have say about working with us:

‘Massey University Press provided excellent professional support and guidance throughout the publishing process. We especially appreciated their integrity and the innovative, out of the box suggestions to ensure an exciting and inviting text for social work students was created.’ — Kathryn Hay, Michael Dale and Lareen Cooper, School of Social Work, authors of Social Work in Aotearoa New Zealand

‘Having our publisher on-site at Massey meant that communications were easier and often in-person. This made the publishing experience so much more seamless. The staff worked closely with us until we were satisfied that we had got it right.’ — Andrea Bennett and Carolyn Wirth, College of Business, authors of Fundamentals of Finance

For more information, contact the publisher, Nicola Legat: N.Legat@massey.ac.nz.

We may decide to publish these under our Massey Symposia Series imprint. We would discuss with the organiser whether papers are to be published as a limited run with targeted distribution, or whether the collection might also have a place in the wider book-trade environment. The peer-reviewed papers would be published to a very high standard in an attractive book format.

No, but we are interested in hearing from authors who have a thesis that could be reshaped into a book. For more information on things to keep in mind, please refer to our notes on turning your thesis into a book.

If you wish to make a submission, please follow our standard submissions guidelines.

We welcome proposals from both Massey researchers and authors outside the university that fit our publishing programme. If you wish to make a submission, please review our submissions guidelines first. Please note that our Annual Ink imprint does not accept unsolicited submissions.

We back all of our books with a full sales, marketing and publicity programme appropriate to the nature of the book. We will also take full advantage of any social-media opportunities.

In most cases we will publish an ebook edition simultaneously with the print book edition. Ebook editions will be widely available on all leading ebook retailer sites.
