Designers Gideon Keith and Carla Sy took out the PANZ Book Design Award for Best Typography for their work on A Moral Truth. The judges noted: ‘A great use of typesetting to immediately call to the content of the book, the designer has deftly balanced the typographic sensibilities of newspapers with the varied demands of a non-traditional piece of text. Headlines, clippings, quotations, lists, and other material maintain their original hierarchies and atmosphere but are brought together in a cohesive whole. The use of ellipsis as a repeated device alongside the halftone dot illustrations is a small example of the wit.’

How to Mend a Kea, designed by Janet Hunt, and Turangawaewae, designed by Kate Barraclough, were Highly Commended in the Best Educational Book section.

Congratulations to all.
